The careful construction of the stretched stockings across the scenes of domestication, aims to raise questions upon the placement of the female role within contemporary society. The work references specifically the paradox between the sexualised and domesticated female identity. The use of stockings, take on organic forms that literally restrict the normal functioning of the spaces and appliances. Domestic appliances for which are associated with the upkeep of the home, traditionally the domain of the female.

The exhibition “Reuterland“ shows a future vision for the Reuterkiez neighbourhood. Eight different measures are taken, always staying close to reality, with the site and in co-operation with the local populace. Anything but sleek architecture, no master plan, merely a situation and the needs of local people, sometimes taking the form of poetic Intervention. Reuterplatz will bloom, showing its green soul. Passages open up to otherwise closed courtyards, and the Pflügerstraße will become a public square. Vegetables will be grown and allotment owners will become organic shop owners. A bridge will connect the area with where people play boules. „Reuterland“ invites you to think develop and discuss what potential t

As a child in Berlin waiting to emigrate to Canada,I had visions of Buffalo and Native people just like in the stories of Karl May.
Surprisingly for me landing in Toronto, that was not to be. 30 years later I finally went to the Prairies . This Art Work is the culmination of the fantasies of childhood mixed with the experience of being in the Prairie. The stunning visuals, the sometimes sad History of this vast beautiful place is something I wanted to translate into an installation made up of Sculpture ,Photography, Drawing, and of course a Soundscape.

Local Heros are citizens that realize heroic activities on a daily basis. In Neukölln many shops are run by migrants, and apart from selling goods from their home countries, many of those shops function as a socio- cultural contact point for the local ethnic communities.
"Local Heros" choreographs such business strategies, and business owners with migrant backgrounds, and their daily heroic activities, that often only become obvious once looking closer, as part of the 48 Hours festival into performative moments.

The idea is also to give participants the opportunity to try Ebru out themselves! “Neukölln? Isn't that the district with so many immigrants, unemployed people and social welfare recipients“. One often hears comments like that about Neukölln and the large quantity of immigrants living there. Yet this is precisely a reason why many people see it as a place of colourful, even exotic diversity. This year, we'd like to show what our mosque has to offer as something that enriches our city. We'll present recitations from the Koran, Ney and Kanun music as well as traditiona

Birch trees with curious eyes, orchard trees that want to be hugged, roommate trees, these are just some of my photos waiting to be displayed at the Festival.
Berlin is for me a city in which people try to cultivate their own personal natural realms, be they flowers in a pot, indoor trees, miniature gardens (window-sill parsley) or house gardens.
There will also be an on-the-spot photo session: I'll take Polaroid photos of the visitors and gradually pin them down on a board behind a tree.

Stimmen im Raum
Der PerformanceChor für Experimentellen Gesang Berlin
Sat 22:00 – 23:00
Location: Genezareth-Kirche
A concert of experimental singing, reacting to the structures of the space, the acoustic and content-related situation in the church itself. Both the bodies and the voices in a space alter its character, inviting the audience to listen to some rather unusual sounds. When voices do not depend on a certain language but, instead, on the sound a body makes, they take on a universal quality, overcoming both inner and external boundaries.
The choir consists of 12 singer/performers under the directorship of Rebekka Uhlig, (experimental singer, performance- and video-artist), who established the group in 2004.

“Trees of the city” - the act
disguise performance, isolation of a tree
Sun 10:00 – 18:00
Location: Alte Post
The photographic artwork “Bäume der Stadt” (trees of the city) reflects Florian Rexroth's approach to urban trees as individuals, contemplating how they interact with their direct vicinity. A striking stylistic decision was made to wrap it, isolating the tree, with white fabric, from its urban context. This young photo-artist's debut during 48 Stunden Neukölln is, during the performance, which was, until that moment, not in the spotlight, expanded. Visitors are offered the opportunity to make their own pictures of “trees of the city”. The artist invites you to observe how the city pushes what we see into a limited space and lets the view become free again to expose the personality of the tree.

Research into impact on plants of Rixdorf
Sat 15:00
Location: Denkmal in der Kirchgasse
A musical experiment testing the affect of Neukölln culture on unkempt, literally uncultivated inhabitants of humus. At three stations, members of the "Sun Of Mine" project will improvise, paying tribute to special growths like, Taraxacum officinale (common dandelions) or Bellis perennis (daisies). Whether the plants react or not will be documented in Polaroid shots at regular intervals. Does culture support the making of humus or tend to support its decline? The tour begins at 3 pm at the Kirchgasse memorial, continuing on to the next station, at 3.45 pm to the public orchard, and concluding around 4.30 pm on the empty lot in front of the traffic practice area on Donaustraße.

Sun 11:00 – 19:00
Location: Hermannplatz - am Denkmal
A partial simulation of the city castle on Hermannplatz intends to illustrate that a castle, chock full of art and other cultural things, belongs in Neukölln more than in the already over full, centre of Berlin. Hermannplatz as a construction site, as the first deliberation: a conceivable site could be the Tempelhofer Feld (the former airport), with 70 hectares and belonging to the local council.
A referendum would make the seriousness of the idea palatable, and the artist Manuela Vos will, symbolically, will realise an urban planning project of excellence, the “Sweet Building Site“, (Performances Sa. 17-18 und So. 15-16 in front of Karstadt).

Sport und Spaß am Schifffahrtskanal
Sat 12:00 – 17:00
Location: Estrel Hotel
