650° - Neukölln hat mehr Horizont (Neukölln's got More of a Horizon)

This year, performance art is being given special attention. Projects will take place in very different places, such as the former airfield at Tempelhof, along Karl-Marx-Straße, in any number of spaces dedicated to specific projects, galleries, and even in public spaces. The palette offers a range of types of performance, from dance or music- based work to more theoretical reflections on this mode of expression.

Fri 21:30
Duration: 8 Min.

How does one interact with objects which no longer physically exist and can no longer be accessed? How and with what means and associations does one deal with them, and what is their influence on one's further actions? Those are the questions related to my current work.
Four photographs showing fake flamingos form the scenery for this performance. These photos are used as sketches to generate a sequence or a pattern of movement, which will be varied rhythmically as an impromptu.

A performance entitled EKOGPMCFAeD (2008) will be performed by the artist Prinz Gholam consisting of a series of a strictly choreographed movements relaying victory, sunjugation, letting one's self go and dependence. The poses are from photographs and images from films. The letters in the title, EKOGPMCFAeD, are a code taking a letter from each refernce.
These images speak to each viewer's capacity to remember individual scenes, part of our culture's common archive of experiences, expressing, among other things, behaviour in social situations, the way we've been raised, learned to move and posture.

venue: Raum 48:1  nicht gemerkt

Fri 21:30 — Sat 09:30

One room, one night. For the duration of a sleeping cycle we undertake a quest of dancing and visual arts for the place where dream and reality meet. Falling asleep. Waking up.
During the 24 hours of a day two artists explore the back and forth between dream and actuality, searching for the emergence of one in the other. A private laboratory during the day, this room becomes a public place during the 12 hours of night. This time is divided into the familiar sleep phases. Following their rhythm moments of sleep, waking up and action become connected, codetermined by the audience.

Sat 16:00 — 18:00

Different kinds of contemporary art are brought together symbiotically: intuitive painting, musical improvisation and performance. The focus of the performance is the artist: using lively acrylic colours and special scrapers, he creates forms that relay emotion on cardboard. The process will be recorded on camera and beamed on to a screen. The resulting images will be mixed together with pre-recorded sequences of Neukölln life into a collage, live. Musicians then interpret the images musically. In this manner, all elements of the performance enter into a semantic and visual dialogue. The images will be, at the end of the 2-part show, given to the audience.

Willi Büsing: One's surrounding are an event. Action painting is a sensual experience. The audience, as part of the composition, is challenged by the canvas. The artist creates a dialogue between viewers and his own thoughts and emotions. Soul painting juxtaposed with composition principles of traditional painting.

Sat 18:00 — 19:00
Sat 20:15 — 20:45
Sun 18:30 — 19:00

The dream of flying is a symbol of transcendence: the overcoming of the limits of the experience of our own consciousness. It represents a desire to surrender the reality and reach the unlimited state of mind defined by a different level of consciousness. In many cultures, this type of dream is connected with a metaphysical experience that reaches the overcoming of the greatest of all limitations, the death.

During the last festival we asked many people to describe their dreams of flying. This material inspired the TheaterMachina to develop a performance that aims to discuss the limits of the body and its relation to gravity and the space, giving the audience the chance to create their own associations between these dreams and the performance.

It's all about comparing private and public spheres of life, how we switch between them or alter our behaviour when we know we're being observed. How well can a couple get to know each other in 20 minutes while they're being watched?

A sitting room with a table, couch and television, a man and a woman. The characters exist both in the performance as well as in virtual reality (i.e. on Myspace and Facebook). While the performance is ongoing, the audience are television viewers and surfers on the internet and find themselves on the set of a reality programme as part of the audience, getting directly involved.

Contemporary dance, acting, video and performance meet in this project which parodies our multimedia lifestyles.

Sat 20:00 — 24:00

Twice-Told I & II deals with various cross-connections and links between the cities of Berlin und Istanbul which led to the setting up of a personal archive of video and audio material and text, which make up the performance.

Our narratives as visual installations in which fragments are either structured or layered improvisationally. The soundtrack reacts to contrasting phenomena, such as violence and tenderness, melancholy and hope, aquiring and decay, while experimenting with the contrasting moods of each city. They have an unususal relationship with the district of Neukölln.

During the last five years, former painting artist Karen Haase has refined her performances in self-built installations. Inspired by small finds and everday life stories, she creates new worlds to dive in with her pictures, texts and actions. Her secret: Dedication, an affinity to insanity and martyrdom, and a longing for freedom, love and death.

With her current performances she explores the hidden depths of the element water in the guise of Frau Dr. Haase, focussing on sensual experiences and playing with time.
